System Requirements​

for Update​

Due to changes in the database schema, an update is only possible from a 3.3.x (or higher) version. That is, it is not possible to update from a version older than 3.3 to the current version. This leads to problems when running the update scripts and then to inconsistencies in the DB schema, which subsequently prevent the correct start of the Webdesk server!

Minimum System Requirements​

The minimum Java runtime is now 1.7.x. The Webdesk setup package is delivered with

  • Tomcat 7.0
  • Sun JRE 1.7

There are still installers for 32-bit and 64-bit (the Ta connector is only available as a 32-bit package!). In general, the use of the 64-bit package is recommended, since the Webdesk system is relatively memory-intensive and reaches the memory limits of 32-bit Java installations with Tomcat (approx. 1.5 GB) relatively quickly even with smaller numbers of users.

Webdesk Core (PO)

  • Improvement of the left navigation menu with regard to user experience and the option to also use it on touch screens (e.g. iPads)
  • New user setup (po_editUserSettiings.act) with plugin mechanism to host settings of other Webdesk modules
  • Option for the user to maintain their private vehicles in the new user setup
  • Option for the user to manage their private bank accounts in the new user setup
  • Automatic suggestion of new personnel numbers when new employees are created directly in Webdesk
  • Job to export any report as PDF to the file system
  • Extension of PoPersonConnector with the bank account of the current person
  • Character set configuration option in the seperatorFileConnector
  • Improved search options for combo boxes with many entries

Webdesk Time Management for IF6020 (TA)

  • Improved time corrections in the travel expense report: Option to already validate against the maximum daily working time here
  • Integration of the correction client with an approval workflow
  • Option to import bookings in the correction client from a CSV file
  • Option to also display daily program values in the correction client.
  • Improvements in calendar synchronization with the groupware system

Webdesk Workflow (WF)

  • Introduction of "unread" markers for Webdesk tasks
  • Display of a marker in the Webdesk header that visualizes the number of unread Webdesk tasks.

Webdesk Travel Management (TM)

  • Travel expense report: Option for the author to add attachments even after the travel workflow has been completed.

  • Adding attachments to a trip via drag & drop

  • Revision of foreign currency in the business trip:

    • Job to import current and past exchange rates from the ECB
    • Automatic conversion of receipts in foreign currencies to EUR at the current rate according to the ECB.

  • Suggestion function for important fields in the travel expense report (e.g. start location, destination, description, ...) based on the most recently entered values.

  • "Keep-alive" mechanism built into the travel expense report form to prevent session/form timeouts

Webdesk HR-Expert (HR)​

  • Option to define the rules for maternity protection and parental leave per client

  • Better support for the use cases re-entry and resignation.

  • Improvements in the position plan

    • Preservation of the expand/collapse state and selection across page changes in the online position plan
    • Print version of the position plan

Webdesk Event Management (EVM)​

  • Room calendar print version
  • Copy function for single-day events
  • Improved room search
