System parameters

This page gives you general information on the purpose and function of system parameters. The individual, specific parameters and their configuration options are each described on the corresponding module pages.

General

System parameters are data objects on the basis of which Webdesk is configured. They can be used to change or define basic settings of Webdesk EWP. The parameters are set in the corresponding module.

The system parameters can also be used, for example, to configure settings for the synchronization of absences from IF6020 with the groupware system; this is also where the SwitchUser functions, settings concerning the password, mail notifications and much more are defined.

Some system parameters are only the system-wide default value: If a value is set for the same setting in a client's settings, that value takes precedence; the system parameter then only applies to clients without a value of their own. This is noted for the respective parameter on the module pages.

The system parameters can take the following forms:

  • Text field - allows the entry of text or numbers
  • List - a series of several fields, e.g. several error reasons for synchronization; the order can be changed using the arrow keys.
  • Password field - the input is masked

Some of the system parameters are provided with a help text. This appears as a question mark icon next to the system parameter in question; clicking it opens a text box.

Searching for specific system parameters

A targeted search for specific system parameters is possible using the following fields:

  • Module
Targeted search by module (the modules installed in the system are available for selection), e.g.:

    • PO - Portal & Organization
    • GW - Groupware
    • TA - Time & Attendance
    • TM - Travel Management
    • WF - Workflow
    • RP - Reporting
    • RS - Rescheduling
    • PTM - Project time
    • DM - Document management
  • Bean
Here the system parameters are displayed by specific topic areas, such as authentication, mail server configuration, password quality, etc.

  • Search field for text input

Attention! System parameters are similar to the Windows registry - changes have a direct effect on how Webdesk works and should be made with caution.
