Template File Connector

The TemplateFileConnector is used to generate, by means of templating, a text file with a more complex, hierarchical structure from the data of a source connector. This can be used, for example, to create data carriers, XML files or EDIFACT files. This connector is not suitable for generating CSV files or ASCII files with a fixed record length.
This connector can only write, not read.

Among other things, the connector can be used to create data carriers for business trips, which are then forwarded for payment.

Example of the configuration of a Template File connector

Velocity template

  • Velocity template
Here you can execute Velocity scripts. A reference of the Velocity commands can be found here
  • Remove all line breaks (CRs + LFs)?
All carriage returns (CR = pressing Return) and line feeds (LF = pressing Space) are automatically removed from the target file
  • System character set
  • Character set
Various encodings can be selected here via a drop-down list
  • Template FileConnector for forwarding

In addition, the Template File connector can write a second file at the same time.

Save Object () and postProcess () are forwarded to a second instance, which is already created by the Template File connector itself. The entity names and the UID for storing result files must be passed on to the second instance.
Here the name of the second Template File connector is specified, to which write operations executed on the current configuration are forwarded.

Storage location of the output

  • Select file on the server
    Saves the file with the specified name in the database. The following placeholders are available: $d (=day), $M (=month), $y (=year), $h (=hour), $m (=minute) and $s (=second)
  • Save as document / specify formatting pattern
    Writes the file under the specified path on the server. The following placeholders are available: $d (=day), $M (=month), $y (=year), $h (=hour), $m (=minute) and $s (=second)
  • Save as document in DB and in the file system
    Saves the file with the specified name in the database. The following placeholders are available: $d (=day), $M (=month), $y (=year), $h (=hour), $m (=minute) and $s (=second)

Column definition

  • Column name
Defines the name of the column that will later be visible in the linked connectors
  • Add row / remove selected rows
  • Show created files
Only files for which the connector served as target are displayed
