Language settings
As an administrator, you access the language settings via the menu tree under
SYSTEM
--> Languages
Here you will find an overview of all languages created in your system. Each language in the list has a name (e.g. english) and a code (e.g. en). Using the input fields in the first row, any language can be created as a new language with its code; the text modules for this language must then be edited and translated.
- The "Default setting" checkbox sets the default language for the entire system. Only one language can be selected as the default language at a time. The parameter must therefore be set exactly once.
- The "Delete" checkbox can be used to delete a language that has been created.
- The "Edit language modules" buttons take you directly to the overview of text modules, filtered by the corresponding language (more on this under "General information on text modules").
Every Webdesk user with the corresponding permissions can directly select available languages for their user account via the browser settings or via the user settings.
Creating a new language
To create a new language, simply fill in the two fields "New name" (e.g. English) and "New code" (2-letter language code, e.g. en) under SYSTEM --> Languages.
After confirming with the "Save" button, the new language and all associated text modules are created, i.e. all text modules of the configured main language are copied. The text modules of the new language can be recognized by the prefix "[en]Textmodule".
Caution: Creating a new language can take a long time, depending on the performance of the computer! To avoid performance problems, this action should only be carried out outside of main working hours.
If no default language was defined during setup, the first language created is automatically adopted as the default language.
