Job Delete Old WF Data

Purpose

The job deleteOldWfData cleans up old data of the workflow engine. In the supplied descriptor it is currently not active but is configurable. Via several workers, different cleanup actions can be executed one after another.

Actions per worker

  • Delete process instances: Deletes completed process instances and the associated event audits.
  • Delete event audits: Deletes selected event audit types or all event audits.
  • Delete all activity data: Deletes all activity variables in the selected range.
  • Delete activity data except that needed for history: Does not delete special activity variables; historical data is taken into account by the service used.
  • Abort running processes: Processes open process instances and aborts them in the selected range.

Period

One of four modes is used per worker:

  • Creation date between: Interval with from and to date.
  • Creation date older than: Amount of time and unit days, months or years.
  • Reference date between: Interval relating to the reference date of the workflow data.
  • Reference date older than: Amount of time and unit relating to the reference date.

For an interval, at least one limit must be specified. In the age modes, the limit is calculated from the configured amount of time and unit relative to the current time.

Process definitions and audit types

Each worker can be restricted to selected process definitions. For the action Delete event audits, assignment, process creation, status and data events can be selected. When process instances are deleted, the associated event audits are deleted as well, regardless of this selection.

Technical notes

  • All cleanup actions except aborting running processes are applied to completed processes; when aborting, open processes are used.
  • Errors in a worker are logged. The remaining workers continue to be executed.
  • The form does not support the selection of individual process states; these are specified by the job per action.
  • Deleting process instances is permanent. Check the selection and the period carefully before activating.

The general job parameters such as trigger and mail notification apply as defined in central job management.
